Frequently Asked Questions

Honestly, it comes down to what you want to own. A factory item is built for consistency — every unit looks like the last. Our pieces are built by people, and people bring their own rhythm to their work. You might notice that the weave on your basket sits slightly tighter on one side, or that the glaze on your clay mug has a tiny ripple near the rim. That is not a flaw. That is the fingerprint of someone who made something for you with their hands. When you own a handcrafted piece, you own a small slice of someone's time and skill, and that is genuinely hard to put a price on.

We are quite particular about this, and we make no apologies for it. Most of our materials are natural — things like hand-spun cotton from small farming communities, unbleached jute, kiln-fired clay sourced from specific river regions, and wood reclaimed from old furniture or fallen trees. We also use plant-based dyes wherever colour is involved, because the colours they produce have a warmth that synthetic dyes just cannot replicate. We know where our materials come from, and we are always happy to share that story if you want to dig deeper.

You can, and we genuinely enjoy those conversations. Custom work is not always possible for every product, but for many of our pieces, an artisan can adjust proportions, work with a specific dye shade, or weave in initials or a short phrase. The best thing to do is message us before you place the order, describe what you have in mind, and we will be straight with you about what is and is not doable. We would rather have that conversation upfront than disappoint you later.

A little longer than you might be used to from online shopping — and we think that is fair to say upfront. Most ready-to-ship items go out within three to five working days. If something is being made fresh to your order, add another week or so depending on the complexity. We will tell you at checkout exactly what to expect, and you will get a tracking update the moment your parcel leaves our hands. We do not believe in leaving people wondering where their order is.

The short answer is: treat it gently and it will reward you. Handwoven textiles do best with a cold handwash and a slow air dry away from direct sun — heat is not kind to natural fibres. Clay and ceramic pieces should be wiped clean with a damp cloth rather than soaked. Wooden items appreciate a very light rub of coconut or linseed oil now and then, especially in dry seasons. We include a small care card with every order, written specifically for that product, so you are never guessing.

Most of our artisans came to us through word of mouth within craft communities, and a few we found by simply travelling to places where traditional skills are still alive and watching people at work. They are weavers, potters, woodcarvers, embroiderers, and basket makers — many of whom learnt their craft from a parent or grandparent. They are not hobbyists; they are professionals who have been doing this for decades. We try to feature them properly on our product pages because we think you deserve to know whose hands shaped the thing you are buying.

Tell us within seven days of receiving your order, send us a photo, and we will sort it out — either a replacement or a full refund, whichever you prefer. We do ask for a little understanding around natural variation. If a shade of indigo looks slightly deeper or lighter than the photo, that is the nature of plant-based dye and not something we can control perfectly. But if something is cracked, structurally off, or genuinely misrepresented, that is on us and we will fix it without making things complicated for you.

This is actually one of our favourite things to do. We wrap gift orders in handmade lokta paper or unbleached craft paper, tied with natural twine, and we write your message by hand on a small card — not printed, actually written. We can ship directly to the recipient so you do not have to be the middleman. If you are buying for a wedding, a housewarming, or a birthday, just let us know and we will make sure the presentation matches the occasion.

We understand the scepticism — a lot of brands say they are green and then wrap everything in layers of plastic foam. Our packaging uses recycled cardboard boxes, shredded paper filler, and paper tape. No bubble wrap. No styrofoam peanuts. No unnecessary plastic anything. The parcel looks modest from the outside but the product inside is protected properly. If you ever want to know the specifics of how we pack a particular item, just ask — we are happy to walk you through it.

Yes, and we have done this for small startups sending thank-you gifts to their first hundred customers, and for larger organisations doing full event giveaways. Give us at least three weeks notice for anything over twenty pieces, and more lead time if you want customisation on each item. We will quote you fairly, keep you updated on progress, and pack everything with the same care as a single order. Drop us a message with your numbers and deadline and we will take it from there.

Every order comes with a small card naming the artisan and the community where the piece was made. If you look closely at the product itself, you will see things that machines simply cannot replicate — a slight variation in pattern repeat, a brushstroke that has a human weight to it, a knot in a weave that sits differently from its neighbours. We have been building relationships with these craft communities for years, and our reputation depends entirely on the honesty of that label. We would not risk it.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, UPI, net banking, and the popular digital wallets. The payment gateway we use is fully encrypted and PCI-compliant, which means your card details are never stored on our end. If a payment does not go through or something looks off on your end, reach out and we will help you complete the order manually if needed — we have done that before and it is not a problem.

We photograph everything in natural daylight on a neutral surface, which gives you the most honest look we can manage without standing in your living room with the item. That said, screens vary a lot — what looks warm amber on one monitor might read orange on another. Natural dye colours also shift subtly with each batch, because plants are not uniform. We describe every shade in writing and note the dye source so you have more than just a photo to go on. If you are uncertain about a specific colour, message us and we can share a closer reference.

We ship to a growing number of countries including the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, Australia, and several others across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Shipping fees and timelines for international orders are calculated at checkout based on your exact address, so there are no surprises at the end. We pack international parcels with extra protective layers because the journey is longer and we want your order to arrive the way it left us — intact and looking exactly as it should.

This question matters to us, so we are going to answer it directly. A meaningful share of what you pay — not just a token percentage — goes directly to the artisan as fair wages. We have structured things this way deliberately, cutting out the layers of middlemen that are common in the craft supply chain. We are not perfect and we do not claim to be, but we have built relationships with our makers based on honest conversations about money, and we revisit those conversations regularly. When you buy from us, the person who made your product is paid properly for their work.
